Awesome fitness watch for running and health!I purchased the 165 on a Black Friday deal. Very happy that I went with the 165 - smaller profile than some of the other Garmin watches is perfect for a smaller wrist, and it has all of the functionality I need in a running watch. The "basic" features such as calories burned, sleep score, de-stressing activity, etc have already been helpful to make healthy changes to my routine, and this will get me on a good track for the next year as I train for longer races. The battery life is excellent, a full week between charges. Overall a great experience so far and very satisfied with this product!

It's GREAT, but I wanted a tiny bit morePerspective: current user of Forerunner 245; primarily a runner with some cross-training. My eyes are getting worse, and I thought this slightly larger display and AMOLED would be great... and they are! By comparison, the Forerunner 265 has more bells and whistles and memory than I thought I'd need... but there is ONE feature that I've found that the 165 doesn't have that's important to me: GCT ratio. I'm so bummed, because it checks all of my other boxes. (Ok, except that it's not available with a smaller band.) I monitor my GCT ratio as part of my running form & technique.

Awesome watch for runners and athletesI have had an Apple Watch for years now and lately realized how pathetic it is when trying to trail run, interval run or get better metrics on your runs. I was told by three people that the Garmin was far better and finally bit the bullet. I order this watch specially for the music option as i run in spartan obstacle course races and didn’t want to do longer races and carry my phone. First thing is the battery life… it’s mind blowing. I barely could make it through the day with an Apple Watch but the Garmin last for days even when using the music for hours. The mapping of your run is super helpful with color coding for speed and stops. I wish there were more built in activity options like the Apple Watch as there doesn’t seem to be built in options for rowing, ellipticals and more but i am still learning so maybe i just need to get more familiar. So far it’s worth every penny. Love how light-weight it is along with ease of charging. I love the round watch face which has been a source of frustration with Apple. If you want to be a stronger runner a Garmin is a must. So far i keep running faster 5k distances and i know part of that is down to the info that i receive while wearing it.

Intuitive. Reliable. Long battery life.I had a Garmin Forerunner 45 as I switched from Apple Watch. I was so tired of Apple Watch touch screen being triggered during my runs. I used the Forerunner 45 until the straps broke twice and I upgraded to this. It’s been fantastic. Looking forward to moving my way up.

10/10Super lightweight, accurate readings for running paces, sleep tracking, heart rate. Very comfortable for everyday use. Switched to it from apple and the battery life on this is astonishing. Went from 12hr battery life from apple to 7-9 days in this one and you could definitely stretch it out to more days depending on the features you enable. At the beginning is a little difficult to understand how to use it but nothing out if this world that a YouTube video cant solve

Does everything you need, nothing you don’tLooking for a replacement for my aging Forerunner 235, and this checked all the boxes. GPS and multi system tracking, accurate measurements, quick connection (after the first syncing) and heart rate monitoring. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the higher end (Fenix series) lines, but has exceptional battery life, and does exactly what I need it to do for training racing up to marathon distance. If you are like me and embody the “less is more” theory to training gear, look no further. Could not be more pleased with the Forerunner 165 and I highly recommend it.

Great UpgradeI purchased this Garmin during the memorial Day Sale - great deal. It was time to upgrade from my Garmin 310XT - which still works fine. I started using Garmin GPS watches from the Forerunner 201 days. I remember a guy used to strap the 201 on top of his hat at races to get better reception. The 165 has it all. The wrist HRM is extremely accurate. I recently wore it during a stress test and compared the info with the Doctor's results. Basically spot on. I use it primarily for running & Cycling. For a $200 GPS training device, it has all the essentials, plus. The more you delve into the capabilities of the device, the more you realize all the features it has. Utilizing the up coming races/goals feature and projected times, it will predict your race times from your daily training runs; and offers specific training on days to achieve those race goals. Hopefully it will help for an upcoming marathon. I like that you can rate your own runs after training, by perceived effort, how you felt, etc. Satellite syncing is instant. I've found that it calibrates spot on with my treadmill speed/distance also. I highly recommend this Garmin for all of its features. If you take the time and set up the watch to your specific needs, there's nothing that it really can't do.

This all you really need for running.I bought two of these for my daughters that are running in highschool. This watch is great. It does everything you need it to do as far as running with gps tracking and can do splits for intervals. It also tracks heart rate and recovery too.

Solid watch, so far so good.I bought this primarily for long trail runs. It is a good watch, but do be sure to charge it regularly, as it will lose it's charge over a couple of days (like most Garmins). My only complete is that it does TOO much. I don't want my watch to urge me to count calories or look at sleep resting pulse. I really just want it for running. But maybe I'll grow into it...

Kinda SurprisedI like the 165 so far with only 12 miles . It has everything I need . I loved the 230 and 235 and the 165 seems to match those. " budget friendly " is how they advertise, if if you want miles run, time , pace. Vo2 max etc. Why spend more. I would recommend to anyone any level of running.
